If you use a CMS (Content Management System) based website you may not be able to run scripts on your webpage.
If, when you cut and paste the automatically generated player code from Screen2Flash into your website control panel, you do not see a player but a message that says ‘This text will be replaced’ then your website cannot support scripts and you should use the EMBED version of the JW player instead.
Configuring the EMBED version of the live streaming player
Navigate to START -> PROGRAMS -> SCREEN2FLASH -> JW PLAYER
Open the JW_Player_LIVE_Embed_Version.html file with an html editor or text editor.
You will have been provided with a server URL (FMS URL) and StreamID or Stream Name by your streaming provider. You will need to edit the following line of code and replace with the details given to you:
flashvars="file=StreamID.flv&streamer=rtmp://streaming_server_name/application_name/&autostart=true"
- 'StreamID.flv' - Replace this with the StreamID or Stream Name given to you. *** You MUST leave the .flv after your StreamID ***
- 'streaming_server_name/application_name/' - Replace this with the server URL (FMS URL) given to you.
Save the edited file as anythingyoulike.html and copy this file to your htdocs folder on your web server.
You are now ready to broadcast LIVE!!
In all cases make sure you enter EXACTLY the same FMS URL and StreamID into Screen2Flash as you entered into the player code***
You can now view the player you just created by navigating to the correct webpage in your browser. The player will show a black screen with a spinning icon in the centre when you are not broadcasting. You can copy the completed player code from this page to any webpage where you wish to display a live streaming player.
Changing the player size
You can edit the parameters of the JW Player to display a player of any size. The default player size is 320 wide x 240 high.
*** IMPORTANT - THE SIZE OF THE PLAYER MUST MATCH THE 'VIDEO OPTIONS / RESOLUTION' WITHIN THE SCREEN2FLASH ENCODING OPTIONS PANEL ***
There are 2 considerations regarding the dimensions of player.
These are:
- The available bandwidth (upload speed)
- The format of your Screen and Camera (4:3 or 16:9)
A larger player size will require more bandwidth (upload speed) and a higher encoding rate to produce a professional looking live stream.
